Poway Center for the Performing Arts presents Ricky Nelson Remembered featuring Mathew and Gunnar Nelson.
The Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation 2011/2012 Professional Performance Season brings Ricky Nelson Remembered featuring Nelson’s twin sons Matthew and Gunnar Nelson to the stage on Saturday, November 19 at 8pm.
Ricky Nelson Remembered is a multi-media musical journey of the life and music of Teen Idol Rick Nelson. Featuring hit songs (“Hello Mary Lou”, “Travelin’ Man”, “Lonesome Town,” “I Gotta Feeling,” “Garden Party”, etc.) performed by Ricky’s twin sons Matthew & Gunnar Nelson. This is a show for all ages and appeals to multiple generations and celebrates Americana at its best. Audiences rave about this heartfelt, energy packed show.
Nelson emerged from “The Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet” to establish himself as one of the most endearing singers of the early ‘60s. Nelson’s catalog of 53 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1957 and 1973 served as an influence to artists as diverse as Paul McCartney and John Fogerty (both of whom contribute video interviews to this performance). He is the only artist to have a Number one song, Number one movie and Number one TV show in the same week. Life Magazine coined the phrase ‘Teen Idol’ after him and he is credited with being of the pioneers of the country rock sound.
The Nelson Legacy of Music
When Matthew & Gunnar hit #1 on the Billboard with their rock band Nelson with their self-penned #1 mega hit “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love & Affection” it put the Nelson family in the Guinness Book of Worlds as the only family in entertainment history with three generations of Number one hitmakers. With their rock band Nelson, Matthew and Gunnar have five Top 40 Billboard hits, four number one MTV videos and have sold over 6.5 million albums worldwide.
Ricky Nelson Remembered featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson will take the stage at 8pm, Saturday, November 19, 2011. Tickets cost $40 Adults; $10 Youth (Under 18 years of age with the purchase of an adult ticket). The Poway Center for the Performing Artsis located at 15498 Espola Road, Poway.
