Have you always wanted to make some noise in the library? Now is your chance. This summer, San Diego County Library is hosting their third annual teen Battle of the Bands competition. Teens can enter their bands into the competition between now and May 25 by submitting an application and demo to the library. Demos do not need to be professionally produced. Submissions can be made at the Vista Library (700 Eucalyptus Ave), El Cajon Library (201 E Douglas Ave), Poway Library (13137 Poway Rd), via mail (Attn: Jennifer Lawson, SD County Library, 5560 Overland Ave #100, San Diego, CA 92123), or via email to Jennifer.Lawson1@sdcounty.ca.gov.
All band members must be between 12-18 years old, and all song lyrics must be clean and family friendly. Selected bands will be invited to compete at one of two Battle of the Bands events. The first event will take place June 30 from 1-4 p.m. at the Vista Library and the second event will take place on July 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the El Cajon Library. The top three bands from each competition will compete in the final event on July 21 at the Poway Library. Bands must provide their own equipment; the library will provide a sound system. The top four winners of the final event will receive paid gigs at the library.
