February at SeaWorld: Small month, big fun

February at SeaWorld, set’s your summer camp memories in motion, opens doors of hope, stokes the fires of love, and honors those that serve. With only 28 days to work with you’ll have to act quickly to take advantage of these offerings.

CAMP SIGN-UP UNDER WAY: February is National Sign Up for Summer Camp Month and registration is under way for SeaWorld Adventure Camps.  Kids of all ages can get into some serious summer fun at SeaWorld’s camp programs, where activities include interacting with animals and getting a behind-the-scenes look at how they are cared for and trained.  Day Camp is available for preschoolers (three-day sessions) and for kindergartners through 9th graders (five-day sessions) between June 21 and Aug. 20.  Five-night Resident Camps for 4th through 12th graders take place June 13–Aug. 20.  For more information call (800) 25-SHAMU (press 4) or visit website.

WALK FOR WISHES TO BENEFIT THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION: More than 500 participants are expected to take part in the first inaugural Walk for Wishes Presented by SeaWorld on Saturday, Feb. 27 at South Shores Park, raising money to make dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.  Participants will choose either the 1-mile or 4-mile walk, which both begin at South Shores Park and continue through SeaWorld.  While in the park, walkers will be greeted by costume characters, flamingos and other SeaWorld animals, who will entertain and encourage participants along the festive route.  The goal for the walk is to raise more than $25,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. RESERVE YOUR VALENTINE DATE WITH SHAMU: Reservations are being taken now for SeaWorld’s “Valentine’s Evening With Shamu” taking place on Feb. 14.  During this special romantic affair, SeaWorld’s award-winning chefs serve a gourmet, four-course meal at candlelit tables just a few feet from the park’s magnificent killer whales.  Shamu and friends entertain diners with a mesmerizing performance during this exclusive celebration, which includes the meal, plus beer and wine, a champagne toast and a commemorative photo.  Price is $250 per couple, plus tax and includes gratuity.  To reserve a table, visit website or call (800) 25-SHAMU (press 5).

SEAWORLD CONTINUES MILITARY TRIBUTE: A tribute program that provided free admission to SeaWorld San Diego to more than 7 million members of the U.S. and coalition armed forces and their families since inception in February 2005 has been extended through 2010.  “Here’s to the Heroes” provides a free single-day admission to one SeaWorld or Busch Gardens park, Sesame Place, Adventure Island or Water Country USA for the service member and as many as three of their direct dependents, through Dec. 31, 2010.  Any active duty, active reserve or ready reserve service member, National Guardsman or U.S. Coast Guard is entitled to a free, single-day admission under the program.  He or she can register in the entrance plaza of a participating park, and show a Department of Defense photo ID.  Also included in the offer are members of foreign military forces serving in the coalitions in Iraq or Afghanistan or attached to American units in the U.S. for training.  For more information, visit website.
