Kensington Trio to Open the Central Library Fall Concert Series

The Kensington Trio
The opening concert in the San Diego Public Library fall concert series will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010. The concert will feature the Kensington Trio, with Natalka Kytasty, violin; Yuri Kytasty, cello; and Ronald Morebello, piano, in works by Chopin, Brahms, and Piazzolla. The performances of Chopin’s music will continue the Concert Series’ bicentennial celebration of Chopin’s birth.
The program will include the following works:
- Frédéric Chopin: Etude in C# Minor, Op. 25, No. 7 (transcribed)
- Frédéric Chopin: Trio in G Minor, Op. 8
- Johannes Brahms: Two Hungarian Dances (transcribed)
- Astor Piazzolla: Oblivion
- Astor Piazzola: Otoño Porteño (Buenos Aires Autumn) and Primavera Porteña (Buenos Aires Spring), from Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires)
The Kensington Trio has been performing together since 2001 and has appeared in many concerts in the greater San Diego area, as well as each season on the Kensington Concert Series. In July of 2006, the Trio was presented at the annual convention of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. The Trio has also performed on the Irvine Classical Music Series.
Natalka Kytasty has performed with the Kiev Chamber Orchestra and the State TV and Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since immigrating to San Diego, she has taught at the Fairbanks School of Performing Arts and has played with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra; she is active in San Diego as a chamber performer, and teaches students of violin and viola.
Yuri Kytasty was principal cellist with the Kiev Chamber Orchestra for twenty years, and was also a member of both the State Symphony Orchestra, and the Opera and Ballet Theater Orchestra. Now residing in San Diego, he has played with the Orchestra of Baja California, and has been principal cellist with the Mesa and San Diego State University Symphonies. He is active as a freelance chamber musician in San Diego.
Ronald Morebello teaches piano privately in the Kensington area of San Diego, and is a frequent performer and judge across California. He performs in the piano, four hands team of Morebello and Rodewald, and with the Kensington Trio. He is also the originator and chairperson of the Kensington Concert Series, which presents concerts in the homes of Kensington.
The concert takes place Sunday, August 15, 2010, 2:30 p.m. it will be held in the third floor auditorium of the Central Library, located at 820 E Street in downtown San Diego. This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the lot adjacent to the Library on Broadway and 8th, courtesy of Five Star Parking. In addition, parking meters are not enforced on Sundays, and other pay parking lots are available in the vicinity of the library.
