Man Arrested in Connection With Previously Reported False Kidnapping Case

Tuesday, September 28, 2010, detectives with the Sheriff’s Department Sexual Assault Unit arrested 20 year old Jose Adrian Cano as he left his home in Vista. The arrest is a continuation of the investigation into what was initially (erroneously) reported as a kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15 year-old female in Encinitas on Friday.

Detectives have teamed with investigators from the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and searched Cano’s home in Vista for additional evidence. Information gathered during the investigation has led investigators to believe there are other underage victims in this case.

Jose Adrian Cano has been booked in to the Vista Detention Facility on the following charges;

Penal Code Sections: 288.4 Contacting a minor online with the intent to commit a sex crime (Felony), 288(c) Lewd Act with 15 year-old (Felony), 261.5(c) Unlawful Intercourse with a minor (Felony).
