FBI and San Diego Police Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Man Believed Responsible for Robbing Two Banks

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male believed responsible for robbing two banks on the same day.

On Friday, October 15, 2010, the Wells Fargo Bank, located inside of the Ralphs grocery store at 6670 Montezuma Road, San Diego, California, was robbed at approximately 4:36 p.m. Approximately 20 minutes later, the Bank of America, located at 6501 Mission Gorge Road, San Diego, California, was robbed by the same man believed responsible for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank. During both robberies, the robber presented a demand note for cash and received cash from both victim tellers.

Witnesses and a review of surveillance photographs and video indicate that the robber was driving or a passenger in a beige colored Mitsubishi sedan vehicle. Surveillance video from the Wells Fargo robbery showing the getaway vehicle in the parking lot area of the Ralphs grocery store is being released to the public in an effort to identify the bank robber.

Witnesses describe the robber as follows:

  • Sex: Male
  • Race: White or Hispanic
  • Age: Mid to late 30’s to early 40’s
  • Height: 5’9” to 6’2” tall
  • Weight: Approximately 170 lbs.
  • Build: Average
    Clothing: Navy baseball cap, black long sleeve shirt with letters “SRG,” light colored blue jeans
