Make a Difference: Become an English Language Tutor
2010-10-26 · By Editor
Two upcoming workshops will offer the chance to learn how to become an English language tutor.
The instructor of the course is Carolyn McGavock, an ESL instructor and faculty member at San Diego Community College. McGavock has also taught Citizenship, Family Literacy, and Vocational ESL classes.
On November 6 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., San Diego County Library’s LEARN literacy program is teaming up with the Laubach Literacy Council of San Diego to offer a two-day workshop for potential English as a Second Language tutors. Attendees must attend both sessions, which are taking place at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center, Education Building A: Room 155, located at 6605 University Ave.
These workshops will prepare attendees to become ESL tutors who can then be matched with adult learners. Tutoring times and locations can be scheduled for the convenience of the tutor and student.
To register or receive more information on these workshops, contact Charles Ross at (619) 442-1481 or intgallery@aol.com. For more information on San Diego County Library’s LEARN program, visit www.sdcl.org or contact your local branch.
