Fallbrook Branch Welcomes 1st Grade at the Library

The Fallbrook Branch of San Diego County Library, 113 S Main Ave., is launching 1st Grade at the Library on Friday, November 5 at 9 a.m. with their first two elementary school classes visiting the library to sign up.
The Fallbrook Masonic Lodge and the Angel Society of Fallbrook made significant contributions to support the program which places a library card in the hands of each local first grader. Two first-grade classes from La Paloma Elementary School are visiting the Fallbrook Library to be the first group signed up for this new program.
1st Grade at the Library is the result of a strong collaboration between the library, the Fallbrook Unified School District, and parents. The program is structured to encourage children to visit the library regularly with their families, therefore increasing community awareness of the library and the essential services it provides.
“This program encourages parents to become involved in their child’s education and exploration into the world of reading, books, and libraries,” Branch Manager Ceci Rincon says,” and it wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of donors like the Fallbrook Masonic Lodge and the Angel Society of Fallbrook.”
Funding received from donors is used to purchase library materials aimed at first graders, as well as to purchase program incentives such as bookmarks and book bags.
