Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa Claus is coming to the beach.
Santa Claus will arrive via fire truck to the Imperial Beach oceanfront on Saturday, December 4, 2010, for the 9th Annual Christmas Comes to I.B. free community event.
The holiday event is from noon to 5 p.m. at Portwood Pier Plaza, on Seacoast Drive near the Imperial Beach Pier. At the center of the plaza will be a decorated 20-foot-tall Christmas tree.
Festivities include photo opportunities with Santa Claus, performances by local school bands, a live petting zoo, face painting, and craft areas for children to create and decorate holiday ornaments. The Grinch is also scheduled to make an appearance.
Refreshments and cookies will be provided for free to all in attendance.
Everyone will also receive a free raffle ticket for toys and gift cards that were donated by community members and local businesses.
“Christmas Comes to I.B.” is organized by the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce and is billed as “the chamber’s way of giving back to families and the community.”
The event is sponsored by the Port of San Diego through its Financial Assistance Program. The program supports a variety of community events in its member cities which also include San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado and National City. For more information, download the event flier.
