Lucky 7 Match – Creating Fun Unique Events For San Diego Singles

EverythingSanDiego recently spoke with Richard Mino and Reza Garajedaghi, Rich: Executive Director; Reza: Director of Marketing and Events of Lucky 7 Match, via email.

They talked about inspirations, challenges and what’s it’s like having a business in Mission Valley.

How long have you been in business?:

Purchased company in December 2009; company has been in business since 2004

Describe your business:

Lucky 7 Match provides social networking events for singles through speed dating, singles events and all inclusive excursions.

Why did you start Lucky 7 Match?

Having relocated to San Diego ourselves, we understand the need that singles have for opportunities to meet and connect with other singles outside of the loud bar scene. With new singles relocating to San Diego because of school, work and military service, this need is compounded with being new in town and not knowing where or when to go meet others with similar interests. Our relationship with some of the hottest venues in town allows us to provide singles with a relaxed, private and social atmosphere where they know they are going to meet singles who are looking to get to know them as well, and we make that process fun. We break the ice so they just have a good time.

What makes Lucky 7 Match stand out?

Our view of ‘singles’ isn’t limited to a specific age group or social demographic. We strive to tailor different events to meet the needs of our singles community, from mid twenties through late seventies hoping to give everyone a chance to socialize and have a great time.

What is the biggest success Lucky 7 Match has had?

Just getting started… Our launch party’s turnout of over 350 people was a success in our eyes, validating the need for our business in our community.

What is your favorite part of running your business?

It’s rewarding to see individuals out of their comfort zones and interacting with various people at our events as a result of our coordination and planning. The best part of it all is to see our guests mingling and having a great time!

What are the biggest challenges you face?

Reading the needs of our community to coordinate events that benefit the majority. It’s hard to please everyone, everywhere, but we try to do as much as we can with the time we have.

What unique talents do you bring to Lucky 7 Match?

Rich has been a financial analyst for over 14 years and firms up the companies financial and legal activities; Reza is finishing up his MBA and has an extensive background in college advising and dealing with the people side of career goal planning. We have both coordinated social events in San Diego for over 3 years before purchasing L7M.

How is Lucky 7 Match involved with the community?

On an individual basis, we each reach out to the community through time and goods donated to food banks, but would love to find an organization that the company can attach itself to for future events and partial proceed donations, etc.

Do you have any future plans for Lucky 7 Match?

We’re planning to expand Lucky 7 Match to northern California and the east coast, including New York and Florida.

Our excursions start up in the spring, adding another element to the types of events

What is the best advice that you received and who did it come from?

An old college professor of marketing reminded me to never underestimate the impact a single word or action can have on my business. Treat every customer as if they were your most important, and people will want to do business with you, no matter what the business is.
