Shortly after 11:00 P.M. on Sunday night (December 19th), the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at 2214 Tina Street in un-incorporated El Cajon. While en route, deputies were advised that the reporting party, later identified as 66 year-old Josephine Mary Ring, stated that she had shot her son (48 year-old Vincent John Bonfiglio).
Once on scene, deputies found Ring outside the residence and her son lying on the floor inside the house. Paramedics rendered first aid to the victim. However, they were unsuccessful in reviving him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ring was taken into custody. It is, however, unclear at this point in the investigation as to the circumstances surrounding this incident, which led to the shooting of Bonfiglio.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321, after hours at (858)-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS(8477).
