Scripps Health Sponsorship with San Diego State University Basketball is a Slam Dunk for a Healthy Lifestyle
2011-01-25 · By Editor
Scripps Health and the San Diego State University (SDSU) Aztecs have teamed up once again for the 2011 men’s and women’s basketball season to promote awareness for a healthy lifestyle.
Featuring the theme Know Your Score, the multimedia campaign promotes health awareness and prevention tips from SDSU men’s basketball head coach Steve Fisher, who discusses comparing your health “scores” with those in the healthy range.
“Improving health numbers for blood pressure and body mass index, and understanding the risks associated with diabetes and sleep apnea can reduce the risk of future problems with diseases such as diabetes and heart disease,” said Dr. Louis Hogrefe, chief medical officer for Scripps Coastal Medical Center.
Elements of the Scripps campaign include “Know Your Score” public service announcements on AM 600 KOGO and XTRA Sports 1360 AM during radio broadcasts of Aztec basketball games, signage at Aztec home games in Viejas Arena, and Scripps Health information booths located outside the arena for four home games.
Know your health scores – where to get screenings
Scripps will have a booth inside the main gates and will be able to provide screenings from the time the gates open through the end of half time at four upcoming men’s basketball home games. Available screenings include body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, diabetes risk and apnea risk.
- Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 – SDSU vs. Wyoming at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 – SDSU vs. TCU at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 – SDSU vs. BYU at 11 a.m.
- Saturday, March 5, 2011 – SDSU vs. Colorado State at 7 p.m.
Sweepstakes – Enter to win
In addition to providing “Know Your Score” health screenings, Scripps is hosting a Tweet to Win and a Las Vegas VIP Trip to the Mountain West Conference Tournament to give Aztec fans more chances to see their favorite team play.
Tweet to win
By encouraging and rewarding healthy lifestyles via Twitter, the Tweet to Win sweepstakes will offer several chances for “social” Aztec fans to win a pair of tickets to a men’s Aztec basketball home game. To participate in the sweepstakes, send @ScrippsHealth (www.twitter.com/scrippshealth) a tweet during the designated entry period on Twitter, explaining how you stay active and healthy. Free Twitter accounts can be created at www.twitter.com.
From now to March 2 a series of five Tweet to Win sweepstakes will be posted on www.twitter.com/scrippshealth. Three winners will be randomly chosen for each sweepstakes period. Each winner will receive two tickets (valued at $30.00 each).
Las Vegas VIP trip to the Mountain West Conference Tournament
While visiting the Scripps Health information booth during a home game (Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 26 and March 5, 2011), enter for a chance to win the Las Vegas VIP Trip to see the Aztecs play in the Mountain West Conference Tournament in March. The prize includes game tickets in the Aztec Fan block, roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations for the winner and a guest.
